Bio:

I am an artist originally from Houston, Texas and currently residing in the DFW area. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in studio art with a concentration in drawing and painting, and a minor in art history from the University of North Texas.

From a young age, I knew I had a passion for art, and Bob Ross had been a significant influence on me while growing up. During my school years, I was a reserved student who spent most of my time drawing in my notebooks. Some of my teachers saw my potential and gave me little projects to hone my skills. I was fortunate to have a teacher in third and fourth grade, Mr. Mao, who provided me with an opportunity that helped me realize my full potential, even though I was a shy and introverted child. During Chinese New Year, my classmates and I created a dragon using cardboard and paper to be worn around the school during the festival. As we approached the final stage of the project, we focused on the dragon's face. I vividly recall Mr. Mao's smile as he approached me and asked, "April, you are an excellent artist. Would you be interested in drawing the eyes of the dragon?" I was extremely grateful for this opportunity and gave it my all.

During this experience, I discovered that my art is a powerful tool for self-expression. It allows me to convey emotions that are difficult to put into words and express my innermost thoughts. One of the recurring themes in my art is nostalgia, inspired by beautiful experiences such as these.
